There has been a lot of confusion in Eva’s name, so I put a video in her story page about how to say it.
Daddy!!!! April 29, 2009
Jim and Josiah went down to our downtown park that has a river the flows into a lake. Anyway, Josiah was throwing rocks into the river (Jim was standing next to him) when some birds flew above them and dropped a present on Josiah’s head and Jim’s clothes. Josiah froze and looked up at Jim with a ‘Daddy, don’t do that’ look! Lately, I don’t get why, Josiah has had numerous encounters/conversations about poop! Today he knock over plants and he swore the dirt was “pla poo” (plant poop). He yelled at the plant for not going potty in the toilet.
BIG news April 28, 2009

I am now over 12 lbs! Praise God! I haven’t made it to the 5th percentile yet, but we know that will take a while.
helen keller April 28, 2009
Josiah thinks that the ‘plate that the food on belongs to the person sitting by it’ rule doesn’t apply to him (we are trying to remedy this). Well, he finished dinner well before Jim and I were done. He decided after he washed his hands and face that he wanted to sit on my lap. I decided to let him do this. He climbed onto my lap and, without a moment of hesitation, grabbed two of my mandarin orange slices off my plate and into his mouth. I said “hey, those are mommy’s” and his response was “mmm mom”!
In case you are wondering about the Helen Keller title (I had to explain the logic to Jim since he has no idea who she was!), Helen Keller used to walk around her family’s table and just eat off of everyone’s plates.
bad tree! April 27, 2009
Last week Jim and Josiah went on a bike ride. Josiah rode in our bike tot tote. The guys rode to home depot (that is about a mile away) and came back with two trees and some mulch! That made me roll my eyes… Jim has bought so many trees that I lost the exact count! I think somewhere around 13, plus the two he just bought. Anyway, that wasn’t what was so funny about their trip. One of the trees tipped a little in the tote and every time a little dirt spilled out Josiah would whine… which totally goes against his character, he loves getting dirty! Jim arrived home and Josiah told our neighbor about the tree and “poo,” it was then discovered that Josiah thought the tree was having a bowel movement and putting it on him!
drinking April 25, 2009
last night Josiah woke up asking for a drink of water. Jim walked into the hallway and told him to wait for the morning. Then, Jim heard the gulping sound of water being drank. Upon further examination, he noticed that Josiah had already grabbed the ceramic toothbrush holder, filled it with water, and was drinking from it. Probably had a minty taste!
brotherly love April 24, 2009
Josiah has been the most attentive brother. He plays, reads, talks, and protects his sister with such a deep affection. He hugs and kisses her constantly. When Jim and Josiah leave Jim says his typical farewell to me and Eva and Josiah says “Bye baby!” and waves and he heads out the door. I am truly that God gave Josiah a tender heart for his sister. What a blessing!
