Yesterday Josiah and I went grocery shopping and he had the ladies admiring his shopping skills. I would tell him what to grab and he LOVES putting it in the cart. He walks next to the cart and waits for the “we need that!” Imagine walking down an aisle and seeing a 2 1/2 foot boy putting things in the cart! It is rather funny and adorable.
We also bought shoes! This little boy is growing and needed some shoes. Thankfully the cheapest pair (why get the nice pair when he is not going to be in them long because he is growing fast?) were the light up ones and, to Josiah’s delight, they had Thomas the train on them. Now, he doesn’t know who Thomas is, he just likes the fact that there is a “blue choo-choo” on his shoes. He also got some winter boots! I bought the blue ones since blue is a nice gender neutral color and Eva could wear them when she gets older. I showed them to Jim and much to my surprise “mr. she will be a tom-boy” thought that they were too boy like! Go figure!!! They are a darker, bright blue and I will admit you can tell they are boyish, but I told Jim “she will have snow pants on.” It just surprised me because he is always saying she will be a tom-boy and I keep saying she seems like she will be a girly-girl. She and Josiah’s activity level are EXTREME opposites in utero! Josiah would kick back if you poked my stomach, she just moves out of the way and is laid back.
We decided to get a rotisserie chicken at the store and the guy behind the counter asked if Josiah would like a cookie. Josiah very excitedly and sweetly replied “yeah.” The guy came back with a cookie and Josiah said “manks.” Then a man came up behind us and asked Josiah if the cookie was for him and Josiah looked at the man, smiled and said “yeah!” The man melted and told Josiah how sweet he was and that he could keep the cookie. I told Josiah that it was time to go and he said good-bye to his two new “friends” and enjoyed his cookie as we walked to the checkout. It was encouraging to witness my little guy willingness and his attitude in being ok with sharing. Something we have been working on for a LONG time. I pray that it wasn’t a “one time fluke” and that the Lord works in this little boy’s heart!
