copy cat May 29, 2008
Growing up I heard the phrase “you copy whom you admire.” Well, yesterday Josiah showed me that he admires me… in a not so flattering way. He decided to copy my morning sickness! Haha! We were standing next by each other and all of a sudden he doubled over and pretended to throw up! I threw up the night before, but I was surprised and having a hard time not laughing at his interpretation. He made the noises and had his hand on his belly… and just to clarify, no he wasn’t eating anything! After this was all done he looked up at me to make sure that I saw this whole act! He looked mighty pleased with his acting skills!
haunt you May 28, 2008
Growing up my mom would always tell me that the things I did would come back to haunt me as an adult. She was referring to how I behave is how my kids would behave…. I thought this was silly! Well, I noticed something within the past week that did come back to haunt me…
When I was really little, about 2 years old, I had this pet peeve about my socks. They ALWAYS had to be put on perfect… straight accross the toes. I would start crying/throwing a fit if they were not on right and when my family would ask what was wrong I would name the culprit who put my socks on wrong. Well, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Josiah does the same thing! UGH! His socks must be PERFECT! Not mostly, but completely perfect… woe to the one who puts them on wrong… for Josiah doesn’t let you get away with it!
bal bal May 26, 2008
Last night we saw a double rainbow from our bedroom window. Josiah saw it and we told him what is was and he then said balbal (he meant bow bow, but it sounded simialar to ball). He decided that he needed to call someone and tell the about this rainbow, so we called uncle Danny and he talked almost non-stop to uncle Danny for about 10 minutes, then we called grandma Baxa and he talked to her almost non-stop for … oh, 5 or 10 minutes, then he called great-grandma/pa Bruders and talked to them about 20 minutes or so. The kid talked non-stop on the phone for over 30 minutes!
answer to prayer May 23, 2008
Thank you to our dear Christian friends who have been praying for us, specifically for me and this baby. I have a praise to announce! Morning sickness is tapering off! Why do I think it is tapering off? Because I haven’t thrown up in two whole days! I know this seems like it might be a petty thing, but these past 3 months have been incredibly difficult! There were days where we felt blessed if I could retain one meal! Jim was helping with cooking and pretty much doing all the clean up after supper since that is when I felt the worst. So, this is a HUGE praise in our house and also another praise is for a husband who helped so much! It was such a comfort to me to watch him help me and take care of Josiah after a day at work. I know I couldn’t have made it without God’s precious gift of my Jim.
I’m a big kid now May 23, 2008
Josiah has been sleeping in his big boy bed every night for the past week or so. Daddy started giving him the option of which bed and he always chooses the bed. Maybe we can start setting up his big boy room sooner than we thought!
small talk May 22, 2008
Josiah: *bumps head on cabinet next to daddy
Daddy: “Are you okay baby?”
Josiah: “yeah, I bump head here” *points to cabinet
Mommy: “Are you done with your food?”
Josiah: “Yeah, all done!”
Mommy: *reaches for her phone
Josiah: “Yeah, grandma” *meaning call grandma
Daddy: “Josiah you are so cute! I love you!”
Josiah: “I love… *long pause*… balls!”
Ahh, the mind of a one year old boy!

hearing baby May 21, 2008
Yesterday we had our doctors appointment… everything was fine. We told Josiah before we left that we were going to go hear the baby. He was a little excited, but confused as well. When the doctor picked up the baby’s heartbeat we told Josiah that “that is the baby!” Josiah smiled and cheered! He was so excited to hear the baby! The doctor even put the doppler closer to Josiah so he could hear better! Josiah thought it was the coolest!
