Glorifying God as a family

ba ba boom December 31, 2007

Filed under: Josiah David — jimbaxa @ 4:53 am

Josiah has learned a new song.  One of our pastors wrote it.   It is called “Faith Is”.  The song talks about what faith is and how we need to trust in Christ and His work on the cross for sinners.  There are several parts in the song where you sing ba ba boom.  Josiah picked up on these and he will sing and dance to them.  It is really cute to watch him come up to Jim, clap his daddy’s hands and say “baba”.

Faith is assurance of things hoped for, by faith conviction of things not seen, that’s what faith is for.  Ba ba boom ba ba boom…  By faith Noah built a great BIG ark, Abraham traveled to a country far, because faith obeys.  Ba ba boom (etc)… Faith is turning away from sin.  Depend on the work of Christ through faith, justified through Him.  Ba ba boom ba ba boom ba ba boom ba ba boom

Hey Everyone!!  We have a computer again!  AHH!  I am so excited!  We bought a laptop from my parents.  They had laptop just like the one we had and they weren’t really using it (Caleb played games on it, but that was it) so they sold it to us!  We just spent over a $100 for Jim’s and my Christmas presents for our laptop, so this is a huge blessing to have a new/used laptop that can use the same parts!  I will post some pictures from the time with my family soon.  Until then…

may you enjoy this time to reflect on God’s gift to sinners in such a beautiful baby named Jesus!  Praise be to God for is indescribable gift!

oh my darling, clementine December 18, 2007

We recently discovered that Josiah can eat clementines. He is limited on what fruits he can he because they cause really bad diaper rashes. So, I went out last night to meet up with a couple friends and left Josiah with Jim. I came home to the most interesting story.

I told Jim before I left that Josiah already had fruit that day and he needed something else for a bedtime snack. I failed to warn Jim about the fridge. I came home and Jim started laughing as he was sharing what went wrong that night. He took Josiah over to the fridge to get some leftover food that was being saved for the bedtime snack. Josiah pushed Jim aside and grabbed a clementine and went running for the dinning room to his booster seat, laughing on the way there. Jim, realizing that there was only one option at that point, put Josiah in the chair and asked for the fruit. Josiah gave him the look of “will you take it away or will you peel it?”. To end the story, Josiah got his clementine and was very happy. I apologized to Jim after he told me what happened. I should have told him that you can’t open the fridge with Josiah right there. He knows where the clementines are and he WILL grab one if he can laughing as he cherishes his prize.

looking for signs December 17, 2007

Josiah has learned some words in sign language!!   AHH!!  I am so excited!  He is so smart!  He has learned: more, please and all done!  This has been a wonderful accomplishment, now if only he would talk, or made sure we were looking at him, when he signs.  It is a little challenging because he will sign and sometimes we don’t catch it and we sit and wonder if he just signed a word or not.  But we are really excited to watch him learn these signs and we hope he can learn a few more as he learns to talk.

Josiah and I went to lunch with my dad yesterday.  Josiah flipped out when he saw his grandpa.  He point at him and said “Bampa!” We went to a Mexican restaurant and it was really cute watching Josiah feed his grandpa chips and salsa.

Boy, Josiah will be thrilled next week.  My dad is coming to babysit while we go to a Crighton game!  He is going to be thrilled!

Greetings to loved ones,

Praise God for sending His Son to bear His wrath for sinners that we may

be able to stand in His presence declared righteous through His Son’s

work.

This has been a year of trials and blessings for our family. We found out that God blessed us with a little one that was due this coming summer, but God, in His wisdom, planned that our little one’s life was to be short. We are thankful for the time we did get to love and pray for our little one.

Jim has been blessed with a promotion this year. He is now working in Valley, NE. It is a very scenic 40 minute drive for him. It is a lot of country roads so he enjoys it very much. He has also enjoyed having a son to wrestle with. He loves to chase Josiah around and make Josiah squeal. Josiah enjoys every moment!

I am enjoying being a house wife and mother. Although, Josiah keeps me busy, I still enjoy scrap booking and blogging on our family blog. I am also enjoying the many ministries at Omaha Bible Church that Josiah accompanies me to. We also go with daddy to preach the gospel to people in Omaha and talk to the ladies who go into the Planned Parenthood in Iowa for abortions. Josiah has already talked to some ladies!

Josiah, who is now 1, is growing quickly. He managed to pull off all of his milestones months early. For example, he held up his head at birth and was walking at 10 months. He enjoys playing with his toys, food, reading with mommy and tackling his daddy. He is a very happy boy and is such a delight to have in our family. He loves to gives hugs and kisses, especially when daddy comes home from work, and he is recently learning to apologize in his own way… a hug and kiss. He has taught us a lot as parents and for that we are thankful.

Praying you all are doing well.

In His grace,

Jim, Traci and Josiah Baxa
