Glorifying God as a family

little man September 25, 2007

Josiah is acting more and more like a little man.  He is starting to communicate well to us what he is wanting to do.

Josiah is also enjoying walking around.  He doesn’t like to walk around without support, but he loves to walk around holding my hand!  He walks around and you can just tell he feels like he is just the smartest, coolest kid.

buh September 20, 2007

Josiah is starting to turn gibberish into words.  He is starting to say buh for bye and huh for hi.  It is rather cute.  He does it while he waves!

the hard way September 18, 2007

Josiah has finally learned a lesson… the hard way.  Every since he started crawling we have had troubles with him playing with the floor vents and hitting it against our wood floor.  This was a daily routine of him playing with it and me correcting him.  Well, the other day Josiah played with it AGAIN, but this time his rubber ball went down the vent.  Now you have to understand, this ball is one of his top 5 favorite toys.  Next to his penguin, blue monkey, puppy and cell phone.  You can imagine his dismay when he realized his precious ball wasn’t coming back like it always does.  He looked at me, when I came running over after I heard the thump, and was ready to cry.  Well, after an hour in the ceiling of our basement, Josiah got his ball back and he hugged it as if it was gone for months!  This happened on Friday… it is Tuesday and Josiah hasn’t even touched the vent!  It looks like he learned the hard way about the vent.

baby steps September 17, 2007

Josiah took his first steps yesterday!   I was letting him walk to a young girl that he likes at our church and I thought she had him so I let go and we discovered that neither one of us had him and he took his first step!  She then helped him walk around the church for about 30 minutes.  Now, we will see how long it takes him to walk completely!

1 victory September 12, 2007

Jim and I are beginning to see fruits in training Josiah!!  We still have several areas that we are working on, but we are seeing victory in 1!!  I am excited about this.  He is obedient in the area of giving us stuff…. let me explain, because that sounds selfish on our part.  If ever he grabs something he is not suppose to, like a pen that fell on the floor, we hold out our hand and ask for it and he brings it over and gives it to us almost immediately!  Sometimes he does a two second delay in coming, but that is usually because he is looking to see the best way to get to us.

Josiah is now 10 months old.  He is growing up so fast!  He isn’t walking yet, but he is definitely heading that direction.  He is connecting phrases and gestures.  He will wave to people.  Sometimes he even says hi or bye… in a baby way.  Hi is pronounce “i” and bye is pronounce “buh”.

healthy nut September 7, 2007

Josiah is definitely a health nut.  He loves his veggies.   He loves capers, lettuce, broccoli, green beans… you get the picture.  He loves lettuce!!!  I just can’t get over that!  He likes to eat ripped up pieces of lettuce.  I guess Jim and I will continue to encourage healthy eating for him, but we are a bit surprised in how much he like veggies.  He loves the healthier foods.  He likes fruit grain bars, yogurt, oatmeal, bagels, fruit, and meat!  Especially Chicken!

almost walking September 3, 2007

Well, it is time I get into shape… and Josiah is going to provide that!   He is standing by himself now and he is getting ready to take that first step!!!  Jim and I are guessing  he will take his first step in a week or two.  AAAHHHHH!  You know, having grown up in such a large family I know that you don’t need to encourage babies to walk because they will and you will miss the days of when they couldn’t.  He is so mobile Jim and I can barely keep up.  He has been climbing up stairs for about a month now and he has been cruising on furniture and now he is standing!  Where does the time go?  He is starting to realize that dada is Jim.  I will say “where’s daddy?” and he will point to Jim!  He also knows what I mean when I say: where’s the monkey?  (a stuffed animal aunt Brittany gave him) or where’s the puppy?   (a stuffed animal his great grandparents gave him) or where’s the penguin?  (a stuffed animal grandma gave him).  If I say any of those questions he goes and finds the toy!  Not bad for a nine month old.  : )

We are glad to be back home. There is nothing like sleeping in your own bed!  I can’t write now, but I will update later.
