We are heading out of town! We will be gone from Sat. the 25th to Tues. the 28th.
thankful August 21, 2007
I was just thinking today about how thankful I am that God has saved me from my sins. He didn’t have to, I deserved my guilt and punishment. Yet, it is such a beautiful way that He did it. He is just and won’t compromise someone paying my debt. It is amazing to me to consider His love for His children. As a parent, I look at Josiah and think “God was disgusted by me like I am of Hitler or Bin Laden and He had His Son take His wrath, the wrath I deserved. I wouldn’t give Josiah up to ‘adopt’ Hitler or Bin Laden.” It is humbling to think of His love and yet, His justice. Christ’s love is great! No greater love than this, than he who lays down his life for his friend!
Jim’s stubborn? August 19, 2007
Many people who know Jim say he is stubborn, Irish stubborn. Well, taking into account the amount of Irish Jim has in him, plus the Irish I have will make our kids even more stubborn! What am I getting at? Well, tonight was the first night Josiah won! We had this gift card to Barnes & Nobles, so tonight we went to find some info on our “seriously considering going to Paris” vacation for next spring. We found the travel section and Jim went to work to figure out what exactly we needed. Josiah was getting anxious to move about, so he and I started to walk around looking at all the different books. We came across what would be Josiah’s new love. I let him look at this puppy book that had the fake fur to feel. Boy, did we have an interesting time!!!! Anytime I tried to put the book back he started crying and holding his arms out to it like it was his only friend in the world. After going through this ordeal for about 5 minutes I decided to ask Jim if Josiah can have the book. Although he never said no, I know him well enough to know he didn’t say yes. Well, to make a long story short. We told Josiah that we would get it only if there was a reasonable amount left on the card. The Lord was gracious to Bubba and there was just the right amount that I had set in my mind that would determine the outcome of Josiah’s ‘love life crisis.’ Needless to say, Josiah was thrilled to take home this new book and was very thankful to Jim and I for not putting it back anymore.
smarty-pants August 16, 2007
Josiah is growing up so quickly, not just in body, but in mind as well! He is such a smart baby! He has figured out how to get into things that I thought he would never be able to figure it out. Like he is crawling in between the refrigerator and the counter!! I keep the broom and mop between there, so it isn’t a very wide gap, and he just squeezes right in.
3/4 August 13, 2007
Well, Josiah is now 3/4 of a year old! It is hard to believe that our little boy is already nine months old! It seems like he was just born… yet, I can’t remember or imagine life without him. He is such a blessing and a gift. He loves his daddy and I know anyone who sees Jim with Josiah knows the feeling is definitely mutual. He loves me… when he wants to nurse.
He loves to play music for us. It is so precious! He will play music and wait for us to clap sometimes. Actually, come to think of it, I don’t think he does that with Jim, he does that when it is just the two of us.
Josiah is definitely starting to get a sweet tooth. I bought him fruit loops to eat dry and now cheerios are out the window if he knows that fruit loops are near by. He loves fruit, fruit loops and chocolate cake. (we made a chocolate cake for Jim’s and my anniversary and Josiah was the only one who liked it)
Adoption August 9, 2007
This video was written and performed by Mark Schultz. He wrote it about his life and mom.
what sin is August 7, 2007
Jim and I do evangelism every Tuesday night… well, sometimes I can’t go, but that is usually about once a month or so when that happens. Every time I am shocked about how people don’t understand sin. We have explained it almost every time we talk to someone. I found this very good definition and I thought I would share it with you. Now, remember as you read it that if you are not doing one, you are still sinning.
Sin is when: the truth of God is not sought, the power of God is not praised, the grace of God is not cherished, the beauty of God is not treasured, the goodness of God is not savored, the faithfulness of God is not trusted, the holiness of God is not reverenced, the promises of God are not relied upon, the commandments of God are not obeyed, the greatness of God is not admired, the wisdom of God is not esteemed, the justice of God is not respected, the presence of God is not prized, the glory of God is not honored, the wrath of God is not feared, the person of God is not loved. – John Piper, 2001
I can honestly say there hasn’t been a point in my life where I have kept these. If you can’t say the same thing, then you are making yourself big and God small in your eyes and heart.
brightest bulb August 6, 2007
Apparently, Josiah is the smartest person in the house! Jim and I decided to finish our basement… well the one room that is 3/4 finished already. We went to the store Saturday night to get the two drywall boards and the wiring for the light and we checked out and got out to the car and realized that we had no way of transporting the drywall with my compact car. So, Jim ran back into the store and bought twine. We spent the next 20 or so minutes tying the two boards to the roof and then I didn’t realize that we were also tying the doors shut. So then we had to get in the car NASCAR style! Yeah, at that moment I felt that Josiah was the smartest in our family.
growing August 1, 2007
Josiah is growing like crazy. I can barely keep up. He is constantly on the go! He is definitely showing what he likes and what he doesn’t like. He is also showing signs of being selfish!
He is very possessive of me. There are times he gets mad if I am talking (or in his mind playing) with Jim and he doesn’t like the fact I am not giving him attention. It is amazing how early our sinful natures show!
Right now Josiah is talking as if telling me what to write. I think it would be something along the lines of “Mandarin oranges taste really good” or “watch momma, I can slurp this things!” Oranges are one of his favorite snack. He loves them a lot. Oranges and gold fish. I need to go. He just ate the last orange and is throwing a fit because they are gone.
