Glorifying God as a family

happily ever after April 23, 2007

It was October 31st, 2004. Two young sisters met new people and went together for some fellowship at one of their houses. On this night these two sisters were introduced to two men whom they will never forget. One man was a serious man with a strange humor, the other was a goof ball who was serious. The two men where good friends and didn’t really pay too much attention that night to these sisters. Then a couple months later these sisters go to do evangelism with their church. Those same two men where there,, as well as two other men. The leader, whom the younger sister liked, separated the sisters for security reasons. Girls always go with a guy. The younger went with him, because he liked her as well, and the older sister went with his friend. Not too long after that night the younger sister’s protector realized that he wanted to protect her the rest of his life as her husband. So, he didn’t waste any time and married her within 6 months. Now Jim and I have been married for almost 2 years. However, the older sister had a different story. She and her ‘protector’ would be “technically not dating” for the next 2 years. It was a constant emotional roller coaster for this sister, but she knew that this was the man God wanted her to marry. On Friday the 20th he surprised her at her work. He just showed up and they went out that night. That night he made her his future bride by asking her to marry him. Melissa is now engaged to Charlie Jackson! After all this time it is exciting to see my sister so happy. They will be husband and wife, Lord willing, on July 21st.

4/25 – Correction: Due to not finding a suitable location, Melissa and Charlie are now getting married on Sunday night, the 15th of July.

my sweetheart April 18, 2007

Josiah is quite the sweetheart! He is such a kind and gentle boy who loves the people close to him. He loves his daddy SO MUCH! He will get excited when the garage/kitchen door opens because that means daddy is home. He also love his grandma… both of them. He loves it at my mom’s because she will hold him and he can watch her crazy dog be… well, crazy. And no one can match his other grandma on the phone! We try and call Jim’s mom at least 2x during the week so Josiah will understand that there are two grandmas. He loves watching me reach for the phone and he waits to see if I put it on speaker and hold it up to his mouth. That means we are calling grandma! He gets excited!

Jim had been working like crazy these past few days. A co-worker hurt her back so he has been getting a lot of overtime. Patients have to be seen or lose their physical therapy coverage. We try to keep a positive attitude about it. We are looking forward to his schedule going back to normal.

not much April 10, 2007

Filed under: Jim, Josiah David, The Whole Family, Traci — jimbaxa @ 1:13 pm

Not much has really been happening. This is why I have a hard time writing. The biggest news in our house is… a new movie (One Night With the King, highly recommended). Sad, huh?

Life has really been slow. Jim’s co-worker injured herself lifting something, so she is not able to work with patients. Which means Jim, and his other so-workers, have to pick up the slack. To give an example, he worked 55+ hours last week, and this week is already going towards overtime as well. I try to remind Josiah, and myself, that this can be a good thing. There are a few things we could list. 1. Paying school loans faster, 2. Jim is getting his 40 hours, 3. It is temporary, 4. Josiah and I get more one-on-one time… there are a few good things that can result from this. But Josiah is in agreement with me. He wants his daddy.

It is rather cute. Josiah recently “discovered” that there is a 8×10 picture of Jim above the fireplace. It is Jim’s and my engagement picture. Josiah will look at it and start smiling and laughing. He thinks Jim is smiling at him! I don’t have the heart to tell him otherwise.

thankful April 6, 2007

This is a song that I played for Jim right before we got married. I recently came across it not that long ago. I hear it and I want to cry. There are two reasons why. 1. I know that Jim will, to the best of his ability, make sure that this will not happen and for that I am thankful, 2. I know that this does happen and it sad when it does.

big boy April 6, 2007

Sorry that it took so long for me to write. Life seems only to get faster.

Josiah fed himself today… for the first time! I am so thrilled! He was eating his cereal and took the spoon right out of my hand and started to feed himself. I am not saying he sucked on his spoon, he really ate off of it. That was so much fun to watch. It is amazing all those little things that we take for granted. Something so small like sitting. I sit without even thinking about it, but when Josiah does I am so excited. I start clapping for him and cheering… it is strange how time changes our thoughts on little pleasures.

One thing in particular that I never want to ever stop cherishing is my Jim. It is so easy to not get excited as I used too when he came home. I used to run and give him a hug, where now he comes to me and gives me a hug and a kiss… but sometimes that is because I can’t move because of the Bubba.

Well, that is really all the new news there is. Life is busy, but a slow busy. Nothing too new, but enjoying what God has given already.

do they? April 1, 2007

Here is an interesting article I came across. It is written by Christian author Randy Alcorn. Please note: this is a long read… around 20-30 minutes, but well worth it! I definitely learned from it.
